Frequent shedding in adult borneo

SalS Dec 23, 2004 12:55 AM

For the past year or so, my adult (5 1/2 foot) female short tailed python has been shedding almost monthly. Since July of this year she has shed SIX times. Her schedule is pretty regular. She eats a large or jumbo rat once a week for 2 weeks, goes opaque for about 2 1/2 weeks and refuses food, then sheds and defecates on the same day and the cycle starts all over again. Her sheds are usually uneventful. In fact, her last shed was in one piece.

Any ideas on what could be the cause of this?

Hey,
I think your problem is your are feeding her too much. I only feed once every 14 to even 21 days, and they do fine on the schedule. Try slowing down on the feeding and see if there is any change.
