My new approach to providing humidity (please comment...):

Antegy Dec 23, 2004 11:36 AM

Hi everyone,

I just got a Pro Mist PM-60 misting system for my burm's cage, which is a Vision #632 (the 6'x3' one). It came with two misting nozzles, both of which I plan on mounting on the warm end of the cage (thereby utilizing the heat to further generate humidity from the misting, and also allow for a drier, cooler end as well). The system came with a great programmable controller that allows up to 14 on/off times per cycle.

My question is this: how much should I mist?

For starters, I've programmed the controller with twelve on/off times per day. It is set to turn on for one minute every two hours.

Here's how I programmed it:

If you have experience using any kind of misting system like this, please let me know what you think? Is this going to be reasonable (enough/too much)?

I know, trial and error will let me know eventually what works best, but I'm just wondering if this is even a good starting point.

Thanks,
- Mark

I use the same system; you'll love it and wonder why you didn't get one sooner. you are right, every environment is different so you'll have to tinker around a bit to get the right setting. i only have mine go off three times each day for about a minute and that is plenty; any more and it gets too much; any less and its too dry...but in a different house, i'm sure it would change.
