turtle lighting?

wayne13114 Dec 23, 2004 03:26 PM

I was wondering what kind of lights do I need? Iv'e read all over the internet about uva and uvb's and mercury bulbs, and now I'm even more confused. I don't use any lighting in the summer cause they are outside most of the time, I was just wondering b/c I am thinking of building them a indoor pond any help would be great.
Thanks
Wayne

A mercury vapor light will with a ceramic fixture will be the best thing. It gives you the benefit of heat and the necessary rays.

Hello Wayne,

My set-up's for my breeding spotteds have 2.. 24" Reptisun 5.0 uvb placed on either side just beyond the top of the ramp.. illuminating the nesting area.. not 6" from the ground surface. Heat is not an issue with spotteds.. so these bulbs work fine.

Love those spotteds.. Terry

I was wondering if you used the compact version of the repti sun light or if you know if it is good I have a small cage set up so a long light wouldn't be that good. but I'll get it if it's better. thanks for the help
