Substrate Question

chibicricket Dec 23, 2004 05:37 PM

I'm going to be putting in tiles into my enclosure, but in the meantime, I'm going to have to find a safe substrate for my new leo. Sand is evil, and I'm staying far away from it or anything like it. I saw a reptile terririum carpet, which is sort of like astroturf but nothing my leo can get caught on. Anyone use it?

reptile terrarium carpet is good, and safe. white paper towels are cheaper

I now use tile I used to use the rep carpet it was ok but i did not like it all because when the leos would attack to eat there bottom chin would get stuck on the carpet and they would struggle to get free and eventually get loose so I would not recomend usin the carpet

OH, yes, NEVER use anything with adhesive or sticky back or tape!!! The reptile carpet I've used is really just heavy-duty felt and there's no sticky to it.

get the tile, looks better and cleans better. Paper towls are nice but wasteful (in my opinion) unless you have babies. carpet soaks up pee.
