New Argus Pics

chupacabra1090 Jul 03, 2003 10:34 AM

This cage sucks for active lizards. Everytime I am at the table studying this jerk begins clawing away at the glass and sides until I feed it. I have to lay newspaper down anytime I want to get into the cage b/c the soil spills out. I can't wait to stick this guy into a trough with a foot of dirt to mess around in. I hope the set-up change will help the relentless/ear-piercing clawing.

Moral of the story: Snake cages USUALLY don't make good monitor cages

Does anyone else have monitors that claw away at their enclosures?

Nice monitor! Mine dosen't claw at the glass, but then again hes only 6 inches. The only thing I have a problem with him is that he sleeps in his water bowl everynight. No matter how many hides are in it. Its funny though!

The pic is from yesterday.

When a monitor tries to get out, its is telling you something. Its your job to figure out what. Its only your job to figure that out. The reason is, you have all the evidence.

From the pics, I do not see anything an argus would want. The dirt looks nasty, to dry and full of junk. In my experience, thats not what they like. So, it possible your argus is telling you it does not like that. Or, it could be many many things.

That goes for all species of monitors. They simply want a place to call home. F
