So i was in the pet store last night buying a rat pup for my very picky Het for albino ball python baby when i was approached by a "snake lover" who wanted to know what i was feeding and how old nad the basic run down of my snake list... And since I LOVE to talk shop i started talking with this guy. He told me he had kingsnakes and that he loved them so much, as we kept talking he also meantioned this boa that he had, he said she was about a 6 foot red tail... I love boas so i asked oh cool where'd you get it and how old is "she" he told me he recieved it from a friend who had paid 350.00 for it but that neither of them knew if it was a boy or a girl and that he didnt want it anymore.. I kind of ask oh does she bite? he told me know he just didnt want it and i said oh well atleast you can find "her" a good home right.. and he said well actually he was here in the pet store to find out if there was a way to BEAT the snake to death. with the comment at the end, it was the most humaine thing i could think of doing to kill it.. WHAT!!! Now im like no no no dont do it...I gave him my number and told him to call me and i will take the snake from him.. I even offered him 50 bucks right there on the spot for him to let me follow him home and pick up the snake... I just hope he calls..

Now to problem two... I have already maxed out my collection and while i will not have to bring this snake into my own house, i have arranged for it to stay in my parents house, I know that i can't keep it... and once i get her and take her to the vet she will be free to a loving home... i will be posting pictures of her, and finding out if its a male or a female and all that stuff im just wondering if anyone out there has room in the house and heart for one more snakey.... Please let me know...

Sincerely,
Rose

I really doubted that he was pulling my chain he knew too much about snakes for me to doubt that he had this animal and the conversation was longer that it appears in type, but i guess there is always a possablility.. I really just got the vibe that he didnt want this snake.. i guess it will show when/if he calls me or not huh.. I just wanted to know if there would be people out there who would like a new guy.... just tring to figure out my options...

Thank you for your input though.. I know i need to be careful and I appreshiate you being honest with me

Sincerely,
Rose

... they will be able to help. Here's a couple websites that will help you locate one:

http://www.kingsnake.com/sdhs/
http://www.rescuers.com/rescues/Reptiles.asp
http://www.vaherper.com/pages/ca.htm

Remember, even though it's a rescue, the TOS doesn't permit you to post it here. If none of these rescues can help, let me know, and I'll make sure you have a place that will take it.

that's great that you may be able to save this boa!
(I will say, besides going to a vet to have the snake
euthanized, from what I have read, blunt-force head trama is
the fastest/humane way to put down a snake.) BUT saving her
and giving her a chance to live is even better!
Where are you located? Try to find your local reptile society and
they can help you place the snake into a good home, or even
contact the local humane society, they usually have the contact
name and numbers for local people who take in rescues.
Good luck!

If someone would have said that to me and they where serious there would only be one thing being beaten to death and it wouldnt be the snake.

Oh trust me it was a thought.. To bad im only like 5'7 and this guy was towering at around 6'3... Damn i hate being a women...I think the thing that suprised me the most was that he wasnt just some young 18 year old kid.. i would have to say yes still young but more like 26-28... kind of makes me worry that he wouldnt have more common sense then to try and beat a snake to death.. I hope he calls... sigh.. nothing to do but wait.. Ill keep you all posted and i have contacted my local humane society which was no help, and i will be going to the IRBA show this next weekend in San Diego and I was thinking of talk with some people there.. im sure ill find a loving home for this guy... maybe mine... thank you all for your help and input... i reallly appreshiate it..!

Sincerely,
Rose

I talked to a guy in a pet store who had already beaten an iguana to death... he was in the process of buying a boa constrictor. I can't believe I share a species with guys like that...

No...I think he's more closely related to Homo Sapiens Neanderthalis!!!
