I was wondering if it would be wise to keep my male anaconda in the same cage as a female retic. I have heard of people doing similar things but decided to seek advice first. Any suggestions?

Def do not try that, it wouldnt be smart. The only people I know of keeping any snake together are very familiar with both snakes and have known them for years, plus that 2 completely different species of snake. Whenever you get a new snake always keep it seperate from your other for at least 6 months and has had a vet check. Posing for som pics is ok tho.
Totally agree with what Sawgawd said so well.
First of all snakes are solitary creatures. The only time two snakes are to be housed together is for breeding. All sorts of problems can arise: stress on the snakes, disease transfer, feeding problems, even one attacking/eating the other one. Retics can be very intolerent of other snake species and some times their own. How will you feed them? Please do not say that you will move them to separate containers. It is not wise and actually dangerous to feed large constrictors out of their cages and then try to move them. Also after feeding the retic may retain her feeding response for a long time and just attack the anaconda due to food scent or his movement. You can't feed both in the cage at the same time also with out a tragedy.
The two snakes come from different sections of the world. They have different habits and requirements. Anacondas prefer cooler temps with a max warm spot of 85. Retics nedd a warm spot higher. Do yourself and the snakes a favor and house them apart. Just trying to be helpful here. Bill
