To Josh06 about the supers.

Lucien Jul 03, 2003 10:46 AM

Unlike mealworms, Superworms have to be seperated into individual compartments to morph into beetles. It takes a long time for them to do so. I use one of those fishing tackle boxes with all the compartments to hold stuff.. Melt small ventilation holes over each compartment and place one superworm in each.. store in a dark area and voila.. beetles after awhile. No substrate or moisture in with them while they're pupating.

Thx, but I havent seen any beetles in my super containers, but I still get babies. I always find the little tiny supers in there and then take them out, so I figure there must be a beetle in there. So, I go and look for one, but there definantly aren't any in there. I havent even found the the ones where they are morphing from the worm to the beetle, like you can see in mealies.

You will if you seperate them. What could be happening is eggs got into the shipment of Supers you got... and are now hatching and growing. They take a long time usually to grow... The immature Superworms cannot breed.. they HAVE to go through pupation before they can breed. So unless you have at least 2 or 3 beetles in there, you wouldn't be getting eggs from any of the larvae
