Type 1...Type 2...Nicaraguan...n/p...???

big_dragonfly Dec 23, 2004 10:18 PM

I'm looking for info on that Type 1 and Type 2 boas are and how those terms are related to nicarguans.

So far, all I have been able to learn, is that in Anery nicaraguans, that type 1 has a light colored tail and type 2 has a dark colored tail. But what about non-anery nicaraguans? How about non-nicaraguan boas?

Any links to websites explaining this would be great.

Thanks,

Jon

Anyone can jump on and correct me, but I've always been under the asumption that type 1 anerythristic animals are of columbian origin. Hence the type one or the 'one' that was more commonly owned and bred by hobbyists before the type 2, or the second type of anerythristic.
Type two is in reference to the anery gene in Nicaraguan boas. Hope this is a good and short clarification, but like I said that is by no means the gospel. Have a good holiday.

I think you're pretty much correct with regards to the two known types of nics. HOWEVER, I wonder if there is actually more than one type of anery simply on the basis that quite a few over the past several years have been imported and I have never, ever read anywhere about those owners working collaboratively to investigate the compatibility of the different strains around. It kind of reminds me of hypomelanism in corns and how there are so many different strains that are unrelated and incompatable. Maybe someone could correct me but until someone gets ahold of several different lines of anery, there may be no way to ever really know how many strains are out there. It would be interesting to hear about someone who may have bred two anery's and produced all normal offspring.

Anyway, here is my anery from Branon Rochelle. This girl is from a Jeremy Stone DH Ghost and a super light anery who is F2 from an import anery. The original import was traded to Jeremy for the DH back in 2001 (or so I was told).
