When is Bleach SAFE?

photojoe Dec 23, 2004 11:43 PM

How long do you have to wait for it to dry, until it is totally safe? From what I understand - as long as it has become dry to the touch it is fine? I'm assuming non porous materials (glass, hard stone etc) this is pretty quickly. What about driftwood and more porous stones. Just the outside being dry or wait a little longer for good measure?

Thanks

Bleach is some pretty strong stuff. You can dilute it in I think like a 1/10 solution in a spray bottle. I wouldn't recommend using bleach without rinsing well afterwards. It could harm your beardie. If you are looking for a good cleanser, you might wanna try Nolvasan or Chlorhexidine. They're both the same but Chlorhexidine is much cheaper(approx 15 bucks for a concentrated gallon online). You can spray this and wipe it off without rinsing. I swear by it.

I'm sorry, I didn't really specify. I used it to clean some rocks and branches outside of the aquarium (soaked in 5% bleach solution and rinsed well - like I've read elsewhere). But how long should I wait to put them back in the cage. Doesn't bleach become non harmful after it has been exposed to light and dried (why they keep it in opaque bottles)

thanks
