If you haven't gotten a copy already you would probably love K. D. Schulz' "Monograph of the Colubrid Snakes of the Genus Elaphe Fitzinger". I've said it before but it really is a remarkable work. I think it costs about $125 (or more now that the dollar is down versus the euro) but in my mind well worth it.

Also, I'm looking forward to B. Hubbs' "Mountain Kingsnakes".
I've heard good things. I can update this recommendation after my copy arrives in a week or so.
Regards
John

if you want to read about something besides the colubrids, get "the complete chondro" by greg maxwell. Its about ... well (obviously) green tree pythons. Great information, and lots of pretty pictures lol.

runs like $50 hardcover. can't find it at any local bookstore though... i had to order my copy from greg at www.chondroweb.com

John, I think you'll like "Mountain Kings". Brian put a lot into this book and it's chocked full of good info. Can't wait to use some it to look for my favorite mtn. kings, heheh. TC.

I'm very excited about the book. I'm sure the stories are extremely witty. And best of luck looking for the real thing. That should be awesome.
Best regards

I'm not sure what you're looking for. . .facts, field herping tales? So, three I've enjoyed are:

1. IN SEARCH OF THE GOLDEN FROG, Marty Crump (Down-to-
earth tale of what it is to be a field researcher).

2. PYTHONS OF THE WORLD,VOL.I, AUSTRALIA, Dave & Tracy Barker
(A wealth of information in an easy-to-digest format).

3. THE SNAKEBITE SURVIVORS' CLUB: TRAVELS AMONG SERPENTS,
Jeremy Seal.

althea

Rather than specific books...Getb yourself on line with Zoo Book Sellers and with Krieger Books. The lion's share of good Herp books come from these two sources.
