I have a trio of Pilbaras. The male and one of the females will eat crickets and lobster roaches. The male will eat sliced mouse fuzzie, and the female will eat that occasionally. The other female had only eaten crickets, refusing roaches and sliced fuzzies.
A few days ago I offered the picky female a live mouse pinkie, and she ate it right away. The other female ate one as well, and with more enthusiasm than she has shown for eating the sliced f/t.
Here is my question: is a diet consisting primarily of mouse pinkie/fuzzie, with occasional feedings of crickets or roaches, detrimental to health in the long run? I know gray-banded kingsnakes eat lizards in the wild, but can be trained to eat mice and live long and healthy lives in captivity. A diet of mouse fuzzies would avoid the concern over calcium/phosphorus ratios in insects. Pilbaras eat smaller reptiles and insects in the wild.
