what is wrong?

batman Dec 25, 2004 03:22 PM

Two problems, first, I have a 17" bearded dragon. He wont eat his veggies and he's only eaten 5-6 crickets.
Second is, I have 2 baby beardes both maybe 8, 8 in a half months old. I fed them both yesterday, I threw in about a dozen and a half crickets, they did not eat them all but most of them. today the male regerggatated a big globe of 'em, and thers another globe in there too wich is from dismorning or last night.
my question is, is it normal for that to happen?

I think he means REGURGITATED GLOB.

And no, thats definitely not normal. YOu need to get your beardies checked by a vet asap. ALL of them. They could have adenovirus, which is a terrible thing to have happen, as it can kill off your entire collection.

Please get them to the vet as soon as you can.

B22,
It's supposed to say "regurgitated (vomited) a glob"
A glob is a pile, so..what ya have here is a pile of puke

In answer to the qustion..Check your temps and make sure the basking temp is at least 100 for proper digestion.
Make sure all crickets are out of the tank at night. It sounded like maybe you had left them in, not sure. Crix can chew holes in sleeping dragons.

It isnt normal thing for them to regurgitate, but it isnt something to panic about. Check your husbandry, as Christyj said, and your temps. Dont leave crix out with them at night, as they can eat/chew on sleeping dragons. How long ago did you get the dragons? They could be stressed out. If the temps are too low, they wont be able to digest the crix and will regurge. Did you recently change sizes of the crickets, or change the amounts you fed them? This can cause them to eat too much, and them just regurging it. Feed again, mist them frequently, and try to get them to eat veggies. That can help in hydration as well, and there is a less of a chance of regurging (and overeating) with salad because they dont produce a feeding response that moving crix do.

Good luck, dont panic, just correct your husbandry

I got them about 6 months ago, at 2-2/ months. The cricket store did not get their order, and they hadnt eatn a week prior to that.so we ran up to the pets plus and all they had were small large crickets. so I got some and threw in a dozen. they ate just fine but now their doing this.

Probably the not eating for a week prior made them regurge, as their bodies were used to not eating, and then all of the sudden they ate a lot. Its not a big deal, but try to keep them on a consistent feeding schedule, that way their bodies and digestive systems wont act like this (regurgitating etc). Good luck, start off slow (foodwise) with them and see how it goes.

Just wondering, where are you located?
