hi!

i am getting a bunch of marbled salamanders in the spring, and i am curious as to a minimum tank size they would need? i was thinking a 20 long maybe???

i've been doing some research and talking with the guy i'm getting them from and they dont get that big (4-5 inches) and they can be easily housed with eachother.

but i'm having some trouble finding care sheets for them in captivity. what are the basics as far as food types, temperature, humidity, substrate, life span, lighting, etc.

does anyone here keep them in captivity? any suggestions would be appreciated!

btw, i keep many diffrent types of herps, so i'm no stranger to amphibian keeping

They are territorial. Each one will require its own hiding spot at the minumum.

but what size tank would be good to house 2-4? a 10 gallon, 20 gallon, or 33 gallon?

and it said the males are known to fight with eachother, would it be best to get all females?

a 10 gallon or a 20 long will work for 2-4 with no problems if you provide them each with thier own hiding spot. Unless it is the breeding season you may some some difficulty telling the sexes apart.
