Some pics of my copperheads...

RyanT Dec 25, 2004 08:32 PM

I just got a digital camera tonight and it's great. I can finally post some pics of my animals. Here are my copperheads. I've been wanting to post this male and show his color for a long time now. This camera actually duplicates it pretty well.

I've been looking for a female for this male (the excellent orange and pink one) for almost 3 years now. About a month ago, I bought the female (the drab, brown one) expecting her to be what I was looking for because the way she was described to me, she sounded perfect. This is what I ended up with. Not quite the match I was hoping for. If anyone has or knows where I could find a female SC locale Southern as nice as the male, I can't even tell you how much it would be appreciated. This is almost a 3 year search now. Anyway, I think he's an amazing copperhead. Any comments are welcome. Ryan.

Ryan, Those are some really nice looking coppers.... Those have to be the most under rated species of venomous snake..... Why they are is beyond me..... They have great coloration, markings, and temperment..... Thanks for posting those pics.... Great looking pair you have there.....

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

I agree that they are way underrated. They are the only hot species I keep right now and absolutely HAVE TO keep. I'd like to have some vipers and maybe some cobras but don't feel comfortable with them around my 3 small kids. I definitely agree with you guys that the male is amazing. He's the best looking copperhead I've ever seen. And totally calm and docile. Traded a baby blood python for him 3 years ago and he was more than worth it. The problem is finding him a worthy mate. Sorry, but that female is nothing special at all. I just paid $175 shipped for her last month and couldn't be more disappointed. I was ripped off. But guess it could have been worse. She's about to shed so I'll post better pics of her when she does. I'm hoping when she does, she gets some dirt off of her and looks a little cleaner. Regardless though, she has nowhere near the same color the male does. She's WC from this past summer and was supposed to be the best looking one out of like 200 that these people caught. They must have caught some really ugly ones then. They were going to keep her for their "museum". Just a reminder that you never can be too sure when dealing with people over the internet. I know I'll never buy another hot without doing the transaction in person. Delta is ridiculous. $100 bucks for shipping and she arrived like 5 hours late. Anyway, guess you guys weren't asking for all that info. Thanks for the comments. I'll post more in a couple days. Ryan.
