So I took my snow corn to the vet last Saturday, and she checked him out. He has a respitory infection as I suspected, but the tests that they did, didn't show anything else. He was given fluids and treated with antibotics which I have to keep giving to him every three days for 21 days total. He finally ate for the first time in weeks so he must be feeling somewhat better although he refused the second mouse I offered him yesterday and his wheezing is back. I just gave him an injection this morning and raised the heat to 86 degrees at the advice of a local pet store owner that I trust. Please let me know if there is anything I am doing wrong or need to do that I am not doing?
Also, as possible explaination for the spinning behavior she said he may just be bored or need exercise. She also mentioned IBD as a possiblity, although she didn't think he had it since he is moving normally. I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of IBD in colubrids? All of the research I have done talks about the disease in regard to boas and pythons. This vet is a fish specialist although they treat reptiles, but she wasn't as knowledgable regarding snakes as I would have liked. We got a new boa at the end of 2002, but they have never been near each other and they don't have mites. IBD seems to only be transfered through contact with bodily fluids. I don't really think he has it but I wanted to see if anybody else knew anything about it.
Thanks,
Anna
