Post for Chris Harper or anyone into woodworking

crtoon83 Dec 26, 2004 01:59 AM

I was looking through some woodworking catalogs buying stuff with my xmas money tonight and I decided to get some forstner bits... I went to the website and they have these on clearance. a 16 piece hex shank forstner set, i've found in other places for nearly $150 they have on clearance for $25. I figure even if they arent that great... its only $25!!! and $5 for shipping!

That is a good price and I do happen to be short on forstner bits. Unfortunately, I need to save every penny for closing costs on the house we're buying.

Regardless, thanks for the heads up.

While I've seen some inexpensive bits, that is a real good price.
I dont think grizzly sells garbage or junk. They seel goods for the hobbyist which does'nt need to stand up to the rigors of everyday use. Considering how often you'll be using all the bits in the set...I say go for it!
Let us know how it is too if you get it. Hell, at $25 I may buy a set.( I normally use a spade bit or hole saw)

My g'pa has a set of theirs... they are great bits. i ordered myself a set... trying to justify buying a second but i couldn't.

These are a lot easier to me than spade bits, especially if you are trying to enlarge a hole or drill a partial hole...and hole saws... those are just a pain in the butt lol.

but yea i was posting here cuz i've used 'em before and i know they're good bits.

and chris... congrats on the house!

That is a good price. Grizzly is a great company they cater to industrial, contractor, profesional, and hobbyists. If you go to the website and request a catalog you will get a FAT book seasonally and although 80% of the products are for the first three catagories of woodworker they sell a great variety of usable products at great prices.
