Sexing My leopard gecko and...

Fourstrings88 Dec 26, 2004 12:52 PM

Well I know I have posted here befor about the samething but I belive they are older than 6 months I think they are possibly 10 months old but not sure.

I have two unsexed leopard Geckos that I WANT to know if they are male or femal. Now I was thinking and a possible solutiion since as we know the males a re very territorial against other males. So I came up with this Idea.

I have my 20 Gallon long tank that I want to put my Leopard Geckos in.So I was thinking if I just put a divider of glass so they could see eachother but not harm eachother if they are both male then I am thinking that might work would it help me at all??
and waht should I look for when i see them going to the glass?

I am doing this b.c. I really dont know FOR SURE what there sex are.I THINK one is female and the other is male and that is where my next question comes in.BREEDING!Now I am all for it put the folks arent lol so is there anyway to get them to not breed.Someone told me to just dont take the eggs throw them away.Easier said then done I would not like doing that.

So let me know if there is anyway I could do that or anything please answer accuratley as possible

THANKS!

below is a link with great pictures of the difference. i am not sure about dividing them, i sounds good but i am not sure if they go off of scent or if it is a visual thing you can always try. i have one gecko that i am still not sure about he or she is an adult and it is really hard to tell but i put my male in there and he went after it very aggresivly so know i keep all unknown seperate hope that helps

Good idea, but likely won' work. Most males are not territorial or agressive until they are mature anyway, which usually means they are sexable.

The only way to prevent breeding between males and females is to keep them seperated and out of viewing range from each other. Also, some males will not eat if they know a female is nearby, so you'd have to get two seperate enlosures anyway.
