i've got a 3 yr old california king. she's been a voracious eater all her life, but hasn't eaten now for about six weeks. she'll still sniff over the mouse, but then just leave it. could she be going into brumation? she still seems pretty active and healthy. should i be worried at all? thanks.

Are you sure she is a she? Otherwise she could be trying to brumate or just thinking of breeding and not eating. If she isn't losing weight etc. I wouldn't sweat it this time of year.

I also have a 3 year old cal king female. For the last 2 winters she quits eating in Oct. I keep her nice and warm until Dec. 1st. and then I place her in a cool closet. I take her out on Feb. 1st warm her back up for 7 days and then start feeding her.
Don't worry. Your snake is trying to brumate. Just turn off the heat
and she sould not lose much weight.
