screen for vivarium

what kind of screen should i use in my vivarium on top of the egg crate? the home depot here has fibreglass and aluminum. i was told not to use aluminum. is this true?

I almost got the fiberglass screening they have there today. I wasnt sure if it was a good material to use tho, so I guess i have the same question.

Well, metals can rust.. not sure if aluminum would, but, might as well be safe. Don't some metals have an effect on water chemical properties? Maybe I just made that up in my head.. LOL. But I do remember reading vivarium sites specifically mention "fiberglass, not metal."

Anyway, fiberglass is the better choice of the two, and I'm willing to bet is easier to work with. Easy to cut and soft and flexible.

I get my fiberglass screen at the Home Depot. It comes in rolls, theres black or charcoal colored.
