We need to start assassinating the people who are choppin' the trees down...Why not? We're a dime a dozen. Or maybe just chop their feet off and make them jump up and down until they're empty, maybe just feed them to the ants!" -Dave Matthews

Steve and I have began the rat breeding earlier this year and let me tell you those animals are just little breeding machines. Every 4 weeks like clock work.. but it keeps my babies well fed and my tegus really enjoy the extra food... Good luck with the rats.

Sincerely,
Rose Hipskind

I just built a new house in October and I've already run out of room inside..... So this was this weeks project, I built a wall in my garage giving me a new room for rats and the snake racks will start coming in next week once I get everthing finished. The new room is 19ft x 13ft. No more cars in the there, but owe well, you have to prioritize right..... LOL

Nice racks! I see you have the same watering system I have. How is it working out for you?

Its working very good, I actually just had my first tub flooding last night, I have a male that just wants to keep shoving bedding in the drip system, this was his second attempt at suicide, and after failing again, I put him down....LOL

I'm hoping to produce 750 - 900 rats a month by Febuary - March time frame. I only need around 200 - 250 right now, but I've got many new comers on the way this year. I also prefer to feed everybody under 1000 grams rat pups. It makes feeding time go much quicker rather than having to stick around and ensure everyone eats and does not get bitten by a rat, I just toss 2 - 4 rat pups in and call it a night, go back in the moring and pull out any left overs. Works great, I just need that extra boost in production to completely get by with it...

Haha how ironic, I had a tub flood as well last night for the first time. I found it this afternoon and it is finally fixed. You're definitely producing alot more rats than I am, only working with 4 colonies right now. Hopefully some of my females will produce and I will have to expand the racks soon though. Good luck!!
