it's like she's playing mind games with me....

Sam's been acting so funny the past few days. She wasn't eating at all and she was basking all day long (literally), and I was already to call up the vet for an appointment today, because of how awful her stools have been lately. Then, I noticed she was getting a little antsy, and as per usual, I took this as a sign that she had to crap, and I let her out into my room to do her thing (such a demanding lizard...probably not the norm as far as uros go...she's a sweetheart though). So I saw her start lifting her tail and I corralled her onto some newspaper and she did her thing, and after that she ate her whole bowl of greens and went back to normal. The fecal looked pretty healthy, and she's acting normal again, so i guess unless I see signs to indicate otherwise, she's good for now.

It almost makes you think she did it all on purpose, but she's just a lizard. All she knows is that I bring food in the morning, she eats it, basks, and then waits until I let her out of the tank, and poops. Trust me, I've tried to break her of that last habit...it's so frustrating sometimes! At least the cage stays clean.

yeah, not so funny when you have to line your room with newspapers and towels everyday I think she developed it because her previous owner kept her in such terrible conditions and never cleaned her tank. So now I think she just doesn't want to be in proximity with her droppings. Sort of the 'don't poop where you eat' philosophy I guess. I've tried hard to get her to start going in her tank. I've even just left her in her tank for over a week and all she did was balloon up until I finally let her out. I think that ended up being an unpleasant experience for both of us. I think when the new big cages get done I'm going to try it again, but I don't have much hope that she'll give in. It doesn't really bother me much though. She's very tame and not shy in the least, so it's not unpleasant taking her out for a run around the room...just the end product.
