couple questions

wyattroa Dec 28, 2004 01:35 AM

We got a baby salcata and i notice today a week after buying it. i think i sneezed and had like a running nose for a second and then i didnt see it again. I looked very closely at him and didnt see anything that would lead me to a respitory infection. Also it gets a little cold here at night, would it be good to put a undertank heater in the tank for at night to help out. And should i raise the temps and jst pay a little closer attention to see if it happens again? Thank you again.

Hey Robert, Obviously It wouldn’t be acceptable to attempt a diagnoses on the cause of that nasal discharge especially remotely, but if it were mine I would check the temps and if within the low range I would push it up a little providing the tortoise in question has adequate room to escape the heat but no where termed as "cold" then monitor the tortoise and activity, if the runny nose has disappeared already could have just been stressed from the move.
Try not to get bogged down with all the health issues that can be applied to a simple situation, which I know is easier to say when you know what your looking for.

Well hope this helps.
