Who can help me with this ??

halsbandleguaan Dec 28, 2004 05:59 AM

Hello all,

I like to have some new collareds.
Now I find someone that maybe have the possibility to regulate the transport from America to Holland.
But frist I have to know if there is someone who can help me with some nice collareds !!

I'm looking to baileyï's and aquaflames also dickersonea are welcome.
I like to have theme in groups with 1 male and 2 or 3 females.
Maybe if possible I whant 3 or 4 groups.
And if possible some young adults.

So my question is............
Is there someone who can and like to help me at anyway??
Hatchlings or wildcatch of there own or adresses of good and confidential petshops.
And if so, what wil it cost ??

I'm asking this on the forum because it's verry difficult to get some realy nice collareds in the petshops here. Also they don't whant to coöperate with transporting prived orders.

So for clarity: You don't need to arange transport but only who can deliver the anymals and be a pick-up spot for the courier service.

I hope to get some results.
Thans for taking the time.

Greetings Peter.

p.s translation of my site is coming soon

>>Now I find someone that maybe have the possibility to regulate the transport from America to Holland.

I don't think there are strict regulations on exporting collared lizards from America--to my knowledge, none are listed in CITES (well, possibly reticulatus, since they are listed as threatened in their native Texas). The problem you would have is more likely to be one of cost involved. I don't think it would be cheap to ship a small number of collared lizards.

>>Is there someone who can and like to help me at anyway??

Are there private breeders in Europe?

>>And if so, what wil it cost ??

You might want to ask on the Shipping forum about the costs--I'm certain someone is familiar with shipping reptiles overseas and could provide an estimate.

I use Babelfish to translate using the "German to English" feature, which is not exact but is better than me trying to read Dutch!

Hello Chris,

I think its a misunderstanding.
I'm not looking for who can transport them, but only who have them ore like to catch some for me.
Transport is something I arange wiht some other.
Till now I'm the biggest collaredbreeder in Europe (as far as I know)
Thats why I like to have to have some new and nice collareds.
Each year I have almost 200 captivebreeds or more.
They are bought by privedkeepers but also by merchants who bring them to England, Italy or other country's.
New bloodlines is because of that verry importend.
I don't know the word of it (please tell me) but I try to oppose that family is doing it on family ect. ect.

I hope that there are some poeple who can help.
I know it's now time for hybernation, but better started asking to soon then asking it to late.

Greeting Peter.

p.s for translating Dutch, you can better use freetranslation.
This one have Dutch to Englisch.

Hi Peter,

I can ask Sam, he caught all my lizards and is really good at it. I am hoping for hatchlings in the spring too, if you are interested in them.

Hello Valerie,

Thanks for replying.

When spring comes Sam will be happy to go on a lizard hunting trip, and I can get them to your contact for shipping. We often do it for fun, anyway. It would be very minimal in cost, just our actual expenses. But it will be several more months before there are any here to catch! I also might be looking for a home for Hermes. He is 4 months old now and very fat! He has been spoken for, but so far the people have failed to provide a suitable enclosure for him. He will not be going to them under those circumstances.

As I recall, you're in New Mexico. To legally collect the lizards for export, you'll need the Commercial Collecting Permit ($50; www.nmcpr.state.nm.us/nmac/parts/title19/19.035.0010.htm), with its attendant annual report, and you'll have to find out the bag limit (supposedly set by the fish&wildlife director annually). Failure to comply would constitute a Lacey Act violation if shipped across state lines, and probably even more Scary Sounding Violations if sent out of the country!

The way I understand it, Lacey Act violations etc. only occur if you get compensated in some way for your actions (even if it's just for your fuel used in travel). If you were to just GIVE the lizards away (provided they were lawfully collected in the first place--i.e. not exceeeding bag limits), you would probably be OK--again, the way I understand how the Lacey Act works. I'm not going out of my way to test my hypothesis, and my opinion here does not constitute legal advice!

I know he had some kind of permit this year, but I will double check before we do anything like this. He has only collected for me and a couple of friends and I had not thought about shipping them. I suppose there will be laws about shipping my own hatchlings that I will have to research, too.

That wil be verry nice.

>>>We often do it for fun, anyway. It would be very minimal in cost, just our actual expenses

Thats verry sweet of you, but if there are cost (like Chris says) I will pay them. So if you or Chris can find out al about that, I like to here it.

>>>But it will be several more months before there are any here to catch

Thats why I now started with asking.

>>>I also might be looking for a home for Hermes. He is 4 months old now and very fat! He has been spoken for, but so far the people have failed to provide a suitable enclosure for him. He will not be going to them under those circumstances.

Whats happen to him? Do you have a photo of him?
Sometimes it looks that some collareds are born with a gen to grow verry fat. Once I had also a verry fat collared female (on photo)
Also her daughters are fatter then the others.

He lives with an unrelated female who is a little younger; she is not fat. His mother is Saige, father unknown. Saige is not as fat, but the only time she has been skinny is after a clutch. Since the adults are brumating, the young ones have just moved into their much bigger enclosure. It will be much harder for Hermes to hunt now, so we will see how fat he remains.
I can't keep Hermes because I can only have one male. I only have one enclosure suitable for lizards that are not very small. The person who is supposed to take him has a deadline; when the adults come out of brumation, Hermes has to go. If this person does not have an enclosure ready by then, I will have to find another home for him. Photos of Hermes, and some of Saige are at the link at the very bottom and also a few at my gallery here:

>>I'm not looking for who can transport them, but only who have them ore like to catch some for me.

What locality? Aquaflames are found in Oklahoma and into parts of Texas. I don't know the details about capturing wild lizards for export from Oklahoma, but Texas is fairly generous with its commercial collecting regulations (all you need is a special permit).

There are people who can catch 100 collared lizards a day in west Texas. I lost the man's business card who told me about this--he catches them in the oil fields near Odessa. I don't think the males are aquaflame, but the females out there are said to be bright yellow.

>>Till now I'm the biggest collaredbreeder in Europe (as far as I know)

After I sent my first reply, I read your request again and you are right--I misunderstood you.

The word you want is "inbreeding."

>>p.s for translating Dutch, you can better use freetranslation.

Thanks, I'll have to put that on my "collared links" page!

Years ago I bought a couple of baileyi from a fellow named Dr. Thomas Jones. I don't know if he still breeds them, I haven't heard anything from him in a while, but he sure had some nice lizards.

I have never order from this site, but the website offers cbb collared lizards from Texas. The site is located in Florida, at $25 from the middle man I wonder if they really are cbb. The photo shows some aquaflames.

www.cflreptilebreeders.com

I have talked to the owner over the telephone and he sounded like a nice guy. He breeds monitors and tegus, at the time his physical address was not on the site. Unfortunately, someone stole all his babies and breeders! I was thinking about ordering a turtle He is able to import from other countries, maybe he can export as well. If anything make sure the lizards you recieve are transported safely.
