I have a legit question for people who keep venomoids.

How do you actually know that the surgery was done properly, or even done in the first place, if there is no documentaion from a licensed vet accompanying the snakes. Do you honestly trust (especially when you know most are crooks) your lives with these people?
Just curious.

I never even thought about the "operation" not even being done. Seems like a definite possibility though, considering the nature of the beast.

On previous posts, someone mentioned that all his venomoids are regularly tested by seeing if it can kill a prey item. Take it as you will...

Thats one way to be somewhat sure it is not able to inject venom, but how do you "bite test" snakes like gaboons and other large fanged species????? Those fangs alone can kill a prey item in a few seconds..... It would be like someone being stabbed in the chest with a pair of tent stakes....

I knew a man who owned a pair of venomoid palestine's, he also used the live mouse test once in a while. He said the same thing....He didnt know if they were hot or if the punture wounds themselves killed the prey. Normally within a few minutes though, the prey would die. Needless to say, he didnt keep much stock in the venomoid business.
