peat moss?

jonnyt21 Dec 28, 2004 10:53 AM

is peat moss by itself a good substrate for a vivarium? if not can i mix it with something that will make it better?
also, could i just use gravel from outside for my vivarium's layer, or would it be best to use store bought aquarium gravel?
thanks
Jon

using jujst peat moss is fine. i currently use it with no added fertilizers or anything of the sort. the frogs feces will do that for you. make sure when you purchase the peat moss that you get the light tan or beige colored one rather than the brown to dark brown kind.
for gravel, store bought is the way to go.

what is the difference between the light and darker peat moss? would it really make that big of a difference? i use the dark stuff with my monitor and he seems to like it..

its just a better quality to be used as a growing medium.
