First time AFT breeder with questions

Snakemother Dec 28, 2004 04:38 PM

My girls have reached the weight specified for me on the forum earlier (50 grams), and I'd like to now house them together with the male for breeding. He's younger, about 2/3 their size. Is it safe to introduce him to a colony situation with the 2 girls? Would they breed? Also, I'm considering either a 20 long tank or a 40 long for them - which should I go with?
Thanks!

I think it wouldn't hurt to try, make sure none of them are getting picked on.

If the male is mature he will try to breed just keep a eye out like noted. Just a idea on your new tank to think about. I keep mine in a 60 gal, i used a piece of plexy glass to divide and create a home for my male on one side. that may work with a 40g with two females and one male. one less tank sitting around and looks nice, something to think about if space is a issue, the 20l would be fine for the two girls and maybe tight for the three.
