>The people in the tree frog forums... They don't reply for several days. Here's what I posted in the other forum, please help!

Something is seriously wrong with my male Cuban Tree Frog.

I took him out of his tank and noticed some white goo on his front arm. I figured it was skin so I pulled it (it was around his toes) And I noticed it was a white strand of GOO coming out of a HOLE in his arm!!! I don't know what this is! Is it a worm? Is it a muscle/tendon!? When I pulled it, some broke off into my fingers, it felt like slime. When he moved his arm it retreated back into the hole...

I cleaned him and as his colour started to lighten, I noticed the flesh around the hole is a dark brown, no blood though... There's a freaking hole in Beady's arm.

I put some first aid antibiotic ointment on it, removed his substrate and put paper towels in. There is nothing wrong with his mate. So, my question-

What is this white strand coming out of this hole in my frog's arm?

Fungal infections - invasions of fungus over the animal's body, most often seen in aquatic animals.

Physical Symptoms - noticeable skin color changes, especially red or inflamed white tissues, ulceration of the skin. Slimy feel to skin, skin coated in fuzzy or creamy material or whitish threading.

Can be caused by dirty water, of something not quite right with his envirornment. Usually have to let a vet give you something for it. Otherwise it just spreads, and gets worse, and he will not make it.

Thats what it sounds like, I certainly could be wrong.

You can go on the regular frog forum (frogs) and give a guy named Andy a holler, hes very knowledgable about many species of frogs.
I have frogs, and have read about fungus before, thats why I say it sounds like that.

Amanda,

I found this website on frogs that may be helpful. I too wondered if it might be a parasite; maybe some kind of subcutaneous worm? I don't know much about frog illnesses and I hope I don't have to learn! Anyway, here's the link. Maybe you can indentify it here:

Thanks for the site. Real interesting, a good read, but I didn't find much. I still think it's a fungal infection.
