Unfotunately the little guy died the same night these pics were taken, he was 3 days old. His sibling is still kicking, and his mother is still dropping eggs, so I might get lucky and get one that lives, who knows.

very strange looking. too bad it died, it wasn't the healthiest looking thing though.
Unfortunately, it looks as if your gecko wasn't fully developed upon hatching. This may be random or it may be due to something in particular such as improper incubation temps, genetics, etc.
How long did the egg take to hatch?

Very weird. I have seen this in some of my adult cresteds from time to time. I usually see it when I uncover a sleeping gecko on the lower level or my rack where it is a bit cooler. If I disturb the gecko it usually returns to a more uniform color in a few minutes. I'm not sure if it has to do with temperature or lack of blood flow to those particular areas of the body due to temporary inactivity or both. I will try to take some pics next time I catch one of them like that.
