I don't know how many of you remember but I posted a while ago about two of our snakes getting out (Shadow and Sparks). I'm happy to say that when we came home tonight Shadow was sitting in the front hallway, mad as can be. I don't think I've ever seen a snake try to strike that much. Of course we both had our hands full but we managed to catch him and he is now safely in a cage (old one was of course taken down a few days ago) with some water. We'll try to feed him tomorrow morning and set up his cage again. I just thought I'd share the good news!

I'm really glad that you found your snake! They do tend to revert back to their defensive nature once they've spent some time away from the cage. You might want to give the snake some time (a few days or so) to settle in before attempting to feed it. I know you're thinking the little critter must be hungry, but it's now trying to adapt to being back in captivity. Also, it's been without a steady heat source so it's digestive system may not be fully up to speed.

I lost my male corn a year ago, and my roommate found him a month later in a drawer in his room. He was pretty large and still hard to find. Congrats on finding your baby!!!

I want to second the notion of waiting a while before feeding. Since my corn escaped during the cold winter months here, I'm sure he had gone into a state of brumation while loose. I fed him a couple days after we found him, but unfortunently he died about 2 weeks after that. He was healthy, of excellent weight, so it is a bit of a mystery, but I think I fed him too soon before his system could get back up to speed and a bacterial infection may have insued.

I am glad to hear you caught one of them. That is excellent indeed.
I never would have thought so after about three or four days.
I hear of it happening quite often but I have never been that lucky. The only one I ever caught after an escape was within about 10 or 15 minutes of it's escape and only because my dogs were barking at it.
congrats

You have made my day. Our Taco escaped through 2 lids the same weekend your snakes eloped. We have had no luck finding him/her. My husband and a friend who has a lot of experience with snakes says Taco will show up but we have radiator heating and I am afraid Taco will have cuddled up in the radiator and been terribly burnt. We tore the room apart that he escaped in, but had not luck fining him. We have 3 cats so it's a little dicey for him here too!

I am still in awe at the fact that he managed to escep through 2 lids with a light and heavy towel on top!

Well I hope your luck continues and you find your other snake and that some rubs off on us!

Joanna

(P.S. Draybar I am still in awe of your snakes and photos!)
