The Hatching of an Irregular Egg...

NeoScales Dec 29, 2004 08:50 AM

Well we had a pair of incompletely shelled eggs that were laid by a first year female. They looked pretty rough (yellowing and pitted), but they continued to grow and develop so we let them continue. Other eggs that were laid 10 days before these and incubated with them hatched out at day 65.

This is what we found on day 86...

Both hatchlings are doing just fine.

Great Photos as always. I just had the same thing happen. Both eggs took along time to hatch. The first 76 days and the second 85 days. The second hatchling (85 days) was smaller and still had a large egg sack attached after it emerged. That was 6 days ago and everything is fine now. It will be interesting to see what the long term effects on growth rate will be. Hmmm another two I will have to raise. Thanks again!

That is almost exactly what the egg looked like that my wierd baby and his sibling were hatched from(see post below). They were laid the day after the set from my other female and hatched 3 weeks later.
