We own 1 5 yr old male sulcata and a hatchling. I recently found an EXCELLENT mixture of food that I plan on buying after everything settles down from the holidays. And for you people who dont like to grow your own grasses for sulcatas and like the cheapness of timothy hay, this mixture is for you. It costs about $0.75 a pound before shipping. First bag is from ecotherm.com it's a mixture of bermuda grass, bigblue stern, and timothy hay. Then you mix that with a bag of oxbow's ochard grass. This totals to be 70# of food for about 51.00. Ecotherm also offers a 30# bag of prickly cactus leaves for 80.00 and a grassland tort wet *treat*. The hay mixture works good for a substrate. They they can eat what they want. I dont believe in using any other type of substrate besides hay, because no matter what they will eat their substrate. Our tort has a tendency of even eating fuzz off the floor when he roams the house.
