A couple of questions about my new ball python..

demoniendin Dec 29, 2004 12:24 PM

Im a complete amateur, personally i thought i was ready for my new ball, but after I got him I realized that its troublesome to get the temperatures just right... I JUST put a ceramic bulb over the enclosure to attempt to raise the hot spot plenty and i also bought a UTH last night to raise the ambient temperature. Anyways, heres a question I have: the BP I just bought ate maybe an hour or so bfore I bought him... two mice. I saw him eat them, whcih was a plus. I was wondering about how long does it take Balls to normally digest and expel their food?

Heres another question, around what times do your ball pyhons wake up and do their thing? I'm just wondering because I know that it was awake last night, but not until after I went to sleep which was around midnight. Is he/she just nervous/stressed and staying in their hide until comfortable except maybe to get some water and exercise on their branches?

Thankyou anyone for your help, and if you would like to see photos of my new and first addition, you can go here

Cover up as much of your screen top as possible, you are letting out valuable heat and humidity.

it depends on your snake and what he's eating and how well he digests all something you'll learn to guage. But you shouldn't handle your snake for at least a day or two after feeding.

Balls don't really do much but hang out in their hide. They will get out and explore or look for food but usually late night early morning is the best time to catch them "doing thier thing".

Hope this helps and congratulations on the new addition!
