Cricket Size

miskittlegrl Dec 29, 2004 06:42 PM

Ok sorry for all the questions but I have another one! Well today my baby at about 30 small crickets just this morning. I was planning on feeding him about 50 (25 in the morning and 25 at night) per day and they would be smalls (If he was really hungry I'd feed more). Well I only bought 50 yesterday and only had about 5 left so I went to the store and got more. I got about 140 of them but they gave me mediums. The guy who gave me the crickets was the one who raised this clutch of beardeds and said mediums were the right size. I think he should still be on smalls because he is only a little over 2 months old. Am I wrong? What size should he be getting? I gave him a couple because he was pacing the tank when he heard/saw me putting them in their container. But he only at 2 of them and wouldnt eat any more (I had to take out the others). What should I do? I dont want to harm him with too big of crickets. Thanks
Meghan

A good rule of thumb is not to give your dragon crickets any bigger than the space between their eyes. Crickets also might be expensive buying them from the petstore all the time, but there are places online you can buy them from in bulk. Maybe you've heard of that already though.

I agree with Shana. That rule of thumb is good, and to get the right size crickets and save money, as she stated, you can buy online. Here are a few great places to check out (buying online is like 1000 crickets for about $10.00 not counting shipping, and you can get the exact size you want!):

www.superwormfarm.com -- I use them. Great place to get
crickets, inexpensive as well. Located in
Pennsylvania.

www.southerncricket.com

Also you can check out these other places for silkies and roaches etc.:

www.mulberryfarms.com

www.californiasilkworms.com -- I use these guys as well. THEY
HAVE GREAT customer service, I highly
recommend them!! Great bugs too!

Good luck, let us know if you have any other questions!
