How many times...?

About how many times can you breed ball pythons PER YEAR? Can't you just manipulate the seasons with the cooling off and warm up? Ya know...after she lays wait a few months and re-intro another male...hell I don't know, do you??

The issue isn't necessarily with manipulating the seasons as ball pythons can be bred anytime of the year. It is with putting weight back on the female after laying eggs. Considering females start fasting somewhere between breeding and ovulation and continue to fast until after eggs are laid they lose a decent amount of weight. They pretty well need a whole season to put weight back on and build up enough fat stores to go through the another fast. You also have to take into consideration the other physical stresses involved and the time it takes to recover.

there would be 10 times as many BP out there. The supply would outweigh the demand and the prices would be a lot cheaper. I love it that the females, for the most part only breed once a year and the size of their cluches are small. It makes for a great hobby/buisness. From what I have read you most likely would not be able to breed a female a couple of months after she lays. Its like asking a human female to get pregnant the day after she just gave birth. Whether its doable, who know? Don't think anyone would even attempt. LoL
