The UN is over due to go the way of the Leauge of Nations. There is an evolution in organisations where they may start out for the "Better Good" but eventually become preoccupied with sustaining their own power. The same thing can be said for both the Republican and Democratic parties, churches, Unions etc.
It is a twin edged sword in that we need organisations to run things yet as they say "Power corrupts".
Ultimately the best good could come from scrapping the system in favor of a dierect Democracy (the only method of government where every voice has equal say).
As to Isreal...There is a reality check here that the "War on Terror" is against a foe that vastly outnumbers in population in the USA and Isreal and does not hold to the concept of national boundaries. The best that can be hoped for is to confine the problem to the Moslem nations. Historically Partisans have allways (eventually) succeeded against invading forces. So the idea of establishing a perminent Democracy in a nation with a powerful partisan force is ludicris.
Ultimately if we had to go to Iraq (which I feel we didn't) we should have gone in and beat the hell out of them and Left it. Expect us to be there for a long time trying and (eventually) failing to set up our prefered government.
And if there is any doubt of this look at the fact that the largest portion of the population there does not want or trust our elections that are coming up and have called for their followers to withdraw.
After the initial fight we began wasting our resources and the lives of our troops on a fool's mission.
