Not growing...

jmc Dec 29, 2004 10:36 PM

Hello,

I purchased two bearded dragons from a breeder in late September. I am not sure of their age, but they were both about 14" when I got them. What is worrying me is that they haven't grown an inch since I've gotten them. I have other bearded dragons, and they're growing just fine. They are all being housed and fed properly.

Is this common? If so, how long should I expect to wait until they start growing again?

Thanks.

Do you know if they are P. vitticeps? or could they be a smaller species of bearded dragon?

The care sheet on this website says adult dragons can be from 15-24 inches in length, so maybe they're just done growing or have slowed down.

You say they are all being properly housed and fed.....but are they?
Are the two slow-growers in habitats of thier own or housed with other dragons or each other?
Cohabitation can sometimes create competition and slow groth.
not insinuating anything just asking.

I suppose I should be clearer. Thanks for the suggestions, everyone..

The female that has stopped growing is in a very large tank (125)with two smaller dragons. She hides most of the time, which could just be her settling down for the season. Regardless, she does not eat or explore unless I remove her from her hiding spot. Should I continue to do this, or should I leave her be?

The male is housed alone in a 55 gallon tank. He has not grown either, since I got the pair in September. Please note that they both have adequate lighting, heat, and food. Should I be worried, or just give them some time to get over it?

And no, they are not Rankin's dragons. Thanks.
