WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST HOT???

wesss Dec 29, 2004 11:18 PM

Just wondering what you guys started out with? The first hot I ever had was a texas coral snake, when I was about 14. Only had it a couple weeks, then let it go where I found it. The first hot I ever kept for any real length of time was a western diamondback.

My first hot(s) were two adult rattlers that I ordered from Glades. One was a 3' yellow phase Timber Rattler. The other was a 4' Eastern Diamondback Rattler. The Diamondback was pretty laid back whereas the Timber was a little firecracker. Both thrived under my care and got me hooked on hots. I learned how to work with hots with these two animals and will never forget them. I ended up selling both of them and moving on to other hots.

I started off with local WC Copperheads, then went on to C. h. horridus.

I got my first hot a bit over year ago and it was yellow juvenile Eyelash pit viper (Bothriechis schlegeli).
After 5 months I bought Atheris squamiger and a little bit later (WC)Vipera berus.

My first was actually two that I got at exactly the same time.
They were a 4 ft long Canebrake Rattlesnake (Crotalus horridus) and a 2 1/2 ft long gravid Southern Copperhead.
