My two corns mated last night - how to proceed now?

Leblondi Dec 30, 2004 01:06 AM

I'd like to see if I can get the little ones to hatch so how should I proceed from here for the best result?

How many weeks until I should provide an egg box for my female? Can I use verimulicte in it? Would it be enough to keep the vermiculite moist and the box on a heat mat? How long until the eggs hatch?

Never done this before and I've not had the snakies for so long. I've tried to inform myself but I didn't get hold of all information yet.

Congrats and hopefully she produces eggs - it's no garuntee, and quite often they are small batches of eggs or not fertile when these random breedings occur.

Do all the research you can and read up on breeding care sheets, there are lots of them out there. Depending on the size of your tank, you may want to either provide a hide box with moss or, when she is near the expectancy date, just use moss in the whole tank and keep it moist. The eggs can dry up quickly in aspen. After she lays the eggs you'll want to take them out and keep them under ideal conditions. G'luck - Matt

I would keep them together. Separate about once a week and feed them. Once they've finished feeding, put them back together.
