deimos Dec 30, 2004 11:15 AM

for christmas i recieved a baby leopard gecko, he is happy and healthy. he is about 2-2.5 inches in length. i was wondering if it is ok for him to eat one meal worm a day? this seems to be his eating pattern.
thank you

depends on the size of mealies your feeding them. One a day seems seems a little low for a young growing Leo unless thats one large mealie. he could be still settling maybe and not quite comfy.

all right then. thank you, i will keep an eye on him. do you think he should be eating small crickets as well, and if so what is the regular amount of these he should eat?

That doesn't sound like very much. If you want to learn a little bit more indepth about food and feeding, go to the article linked below.

I use both mealies and crix for young Leo's for a variety until sub adult and then try to convert to mainly mealies as adults. It's fun watching them stalk crix compared to mealies, makes them better hunters. use small crix and mealies till it gets larger, they'll actually eat quite alot everynight. i drop in 5-6 small crix plus leave mealies in a dish so they learn to eat out of it. mealies can stay in overnight but uneaten crix should be removed after about 10-15 minutes.
