Ever see a brumating uro?

sunfox Dec 30, 2004 01:28 PM

Here's one

I moved Ra back to his 40-gallon tank temporarily until he finishes his brumation. He is in full brumation this year and it is going very well. I used the other den as a place for him to sleep the winter away and lined it with paper towels for added comfort. The tank also has his favourite furniture in it (particularly his ceramic bull skull) which I will move back to the 125-gallon when his brumation is over.

I am using Doug Dix's brumation method and it works very well for keeping away gut paralysis and necrosis.

Sleep tight, little one.

I'm glad to hear Ra is snoozing happily! I'm on a similar schedule (slightly modified Doug Dix version), and the Malis are all konked out for the winter. They get lights/heat for only 4 hours a day, and they only come out once or maybe twice a week. The Saharans are at just under 8 hours a day since they are out and active every day - temps are slightly cooler since the other lizard lights aren't on in the room.

Isis looks beautiful - maybe that's why she's not sleeping. Showing off her pretty black tail. I can't wait to see pictures when she's shed all over!
