If I wanted to set up my own reptile show, what would I need to Know?
Alot.
First you need to determine if there is enough interest to have a reptile show in your area. Municipal/state laws and regulations for hosting a show, where to hold it, cost of space rental, tables, etc. Finding sponsors, vendors etc. to come to the show. Advertising agencies to promote the show.
Depending on the size and expectant amount of people attending the show, will indicate in part, how much money you need to organize it and how much time you need. I myself have never organized anything like this but from common sense, reading about how much is involved with just organizing any local event, it takes time, alot of work, municipal funding etc. A better way to find out what sort of work is needed for a show, is talk to members of any commitee that organizes events in your area, it doesn't have to be one about reptiles, as all the prep work is the same.
Start with the local commitees of your city, find out who is on the event organization board, and ask what sort of tasks do they go through each year to organize for the summer festival or whatever event. Bring a pen and paper as many of the people they go through may be ones you can contact as well.
