Found some interesting reptile books...

I am going to buy them but first I want to get people's opinion on them.

The first one is "Reptile Medicine and Surgery" by Douglas Mader. It got excellent reviews (4 1/2 stars out of 5) and the reviews said that this books corrects all of the mistakes made in Frye's medical books.

The second one is "Understanding Reptile Parasites: A Basic Manual for Herpetoculturists and Veterinarians" by Roger Klingerberg. This book got the same rating as the first book I mentioned. It talks about the parasites that affects our little cold-blooded friends, along with great pictures of the parasites and how they look under a microscope. It also is supposed to have a good section on medications and dosages.

If anyone has read either one of these, please tell me what you have thought of them.
I don't know if there's anything on uromastyx in them but the books look interesting anyway.

I own the books you mention in addition to Biomedical and Surgical Aspects of Captive Reptile Husbandry by Frye. I think Klingenberg, Mader and Frye are all worth having in your library.

where'd you find those books? I think they would probably be good books for every intimate herper to have. It's always good to have an understanding of that kind of stuff. Plus, with that one book (the parasite book), it sounds like all you need is a microscope and some slides and whatnot and you could probably determine on your own when your reptiles have parasites and what kind.

I noticed a lot of people on here don't seem to have much problems with parasites. Around here there seems to be a problem with it. My vet even told me today when I mentioned all of the parasites my bearded dragon had, "They all seem to get parasites, whether they're captive bred or not".

I have understanding reptile parasites, and thought it to be excellent, easy reading for all, and very explicit in teaching you what to look for.

I am leaning to do my own fecals from reading it.
