Fat necked montium...

thelizardking77 Dec 30, 2004 08:47 PM

I have a c.b baby male montium, about 2 1/2 months old that looks to have fat cells on each side of his neck. He has a varied diet of cricks, assorted worms... meals, horn, and silks. He gets dusted about once a week with a various vites, including Mineral-I, herptivite, and Rep-Cal. Any suggestions would be apprechiated. P.S. He gets along great, eats and drinks normal, just looks like he's got edema of the neck.. Thanks

This is very common with montane chameleons,
they tend to be very sensitive to vitamin suppliments.
I would stop using all dusts except calcium, and
switch it up with calcium with d3 once in a while. Use it
sparing, like once a week. Just give your insects a healthy gutload, vegtables with calcium is much better than dust form.
this is one of the best recipes out there:

Make sure your montium is getting lotts of water to help his kidneys out, it should clear up ok once you stop using the suppliments. I have a parsonii who starting developing the neck swelling from using suppliment "x", it cleared up fine once I stopped using it.
