Weight and Age?

Ses01 Dec 30, 2004 09:00 PM

Howdy every body. I ws just wondering if there's any way to figure a general age by weight of BP's? My friend bought a great looking adult male, but the shop he got it from wasn't sure about the age. They only had him for a little over a month. He weighs 1188 grams and is about 3 feet long. I was just curious.

Thanks a lot and Happy New Year!

Males can breed at 5 months @ 450 grams. Females can breed at 15 months @ 1000 grams(not recommended)I like them a little bigger. Hope this helps some...

A male that size would most likely be 2 years of age or older. Males gemerally don't grow as quickly as females do, so aside form telling you old be may be, there really is no way to tell aside from cutting him in half and counting the rings....JK

Thanks a lot. I called my friend to let him know. The people at the reptile shop were guessing around 14 -18 months. Thanks for the help.

Sorry, Mikey let me make it easier for you. 15 months and 5 months = 20 months....Did you proof read your reply?

What in the hell does that reply mean? In YOUR reply you said a male at 5 months might breed, and female at 15 months might breed or something to that affect. So, we were supposed to add those two numbers together to figure out the age of a ball python???? Where else do we get 15 5 = 20??? You did NOT in any way answer the question asked, so the question posed to you was a good one, despite the lack of proof reading.
