Fish "Chlorine Remover" liquid drops. Is it safe for ball pythons?

Philly_nr Dec 30, 2004 10:49 PM

We use a drop of chlorine remover when we change the water for the fish. The suggested usage is one drop per gallon.

Do you know if it's safe to use this for removing the chlorine used as drinking water for ball pythons? I know that you can keep the top off and the chlorine will dissipate in a few days but this seems to be a quicker solution to the problem.

Thanks in advance.

Chlorine in small amounts of shallow water, like in a water bowl for example, should evaporate out in an hour or two tops. The small amount of chlorine in the water itself won't harm either your snake or your fish. The chlorine needs to be removed from replacement fish water mainly because it kills the good bacteria in your filtration system. Really, letting your water set out over night is a healthier for your tank than adding chemicals. I wouldn't worry about it for your snakes.

I'd buy reverse osmosis (sp?) bottled water before I'd add some chemical to the water. Or get a water filter. I use one of those PUR water filters for my own and my animals water usage.
