While I was out of town for a few days, I asked the 18 year-old son to please water the snakes. And I must admit that he did a great job except. . .
. . .as I was passing the herp room door this morning, I was surprised to see my male malagasy speckled hognose sprawled on top of the 75 gallon screen top of the bearded dragon's tank--directly in front of the wall heater.
I walked in quietly and he raised his head and flicked his tongue as much as to say, "Well, it's about time you showed up to put me back in my enclosure." The first thing he did when I put him back was to take a nice long drink out of his full water bowl.(lol)
After I secured the cage clips (Oops--I musta' forgot, Mom.) I made certain that all lizards and geckos were accounted for, and that all other legless ones were secure in their enclosures. It was then that I exhaled and thanked the Universe for not having to spend the day searching the herp room for escapees. Oh, that every escapee made recapture this easy!
