I wish everyone a great start to the new year and hope that the next year brings you the success and love that you desire. I am looking forward to another great Herping year and can’t wait to see what may be popping out from the snakes this season.
But a word of caution from your friendly neighborhood police officer (well, I’m not too friendly but you know what I mean)…..

There is a National Effort tonight to clear the streets of all drunk drivers. Law Enforcement will be out in force with DUI Check points, extra officers, K-9 dogs and all kinds of other things. This is not to make sure your year starts off with an arrest, but to make sure your year starts out with you alive. Please stay safe, have a designated driver, or most of the police agencies or taxi companies are offering free rides home, no questions asked so check you local programs.
There is no reason for anyone to get hurt on this night of celebration. We need all the Herpers we can get, but if you do make a mistake and are lucky enough to be found by a police officer before you hurt anyone, be cooperative and respectful, remember that officer gave up his/her night of celebration with their family to make sure you and your family are safe tonight.

And most of all ( in the words of the brilliant Chris Rock) “Do not Fight with the POLICE!, They will kick you’re a$$” Pepper spray burns, Tazers hurt like hell (and make drunk people pee their pants) and Batons leave lasting marks that will make you think twice next time (remember Rodney King? “why can’t we all just get along?”)
Lets all be safe and smart on this one night and make sure all of our love ones are around to enjoy next year.

Do you guys have the ones with lazer sights, multiple probes, and the ability to keep sending a charge through to the "target"?Our city P.D. just got these tazers and they're definitely effective. You can shoot say the attacker, then if the victim becomes the atttacker, you can sink a dart into him and once the affect wears off, you can send them another zap! Just curious, thanks for the heads up, be careful out there Hoppy. Take care.

I dont drink at all anymore....Ever since then i have seen police officers in a totally different light. Although I judge everyone on a case per case basis. I do hate speeding tickets, but I do think cops can be good people now. This cop is a good one in my book, too bad you don't live in San Diego. Happy new year hoppy. Be smart people and make some good choices like i didnt when i was younger.
