ackie feeding ?

iwantamonitor Dec 31, 2004 02:23 PM

hello i have just purchased 1 red baby ackie from prehistoric pets. Coming on Tuesday. Im so excited. Ive wanted one for so long. Anyways, for feeding im going to be feeding crickets to him for his whole life and I got a high-calcium bottle of flukers cricket feed. Now would this replace dusting crickets with sticky farms minerall. If not which minerall should i buy(d3) or what. For lighting i have a zoomed repti basking spot lamp(75 watt). Will this provide enough heat in a 20 gallon long screen top tank?

THANK YOU

a 75 should be enough, in fact it might be overkill for that small of a tank, being that the lamp will be situated only a matter of 8-10 from the substrate, be sure not to overheat. Also get a better top than a screen top, i used them but was drying my monitors and their substrate out too much wiht them. ihave been making all my lids out of plywood or acrylic both work well adn you can adjsut the ventilation by adding or covering holes. cricket food is a gut load, you can still use the miner-all, use the indoor formula with they D3, dont over do it either, be reserved when applying it to their meals. I have also just received my first ackies recently and i love them, they really won me over, they eat like champs and arent scared at all for their small size. great monitors all teh way around, good luck with yours, i hope to have some pics of mine up soon.
thanks
scott
