I am planning a more naturalistic, biologically balanced terrarium for terrestrial dart frogs instead of my typical 10 gallon with gravel and a few potted plants. I am thinking about either a false-bottom set-up or just creating drainage with LECA. Nevertheless, I want to overlay this with a naturalistic substrate that allows for planting and provides a good base for moss. I have tried pure peat moss on top of LECA (aliflor) and I hate it...it just turns into a goopy mess. I've read alot about "jungle mixes" and other substrates, so I was wondering what everyone considers to be the *best* all-around substrate (good for the frogs, good for the plants, long lasting, easy to come by, inexpensive, etc).

Thanks
